A product with Secured By Design (SBD) accreditation is, by definition, approved to the ‘police preferred specification’. There can’t be many though which can claim to be ‘police recommended specification’ as well.
It was particularly nice to hear this week from our sales team in Scotland that our ProSecure 2* security handle had been personally recommended by an officer from the police’s ‘Preventions, Interventions and Partnerships’ team. He had been called out by a homeowner living near Glasgow who’d been the victim of a burglary and who wanted advice on how to make their door more secure in the future.
The officer had previously requested samples and brochures of Mila’s SBD accredited door handles and cylinders and had been particularly impressed by the fact that our ProSecure handles are stamped on the outside with the instantly recognisable SBD logo.
When he showed the handle to the homeowners, they liked the solid feel and the fact that it features an anti-snap cylinder guard, but what gave them the most reassurance was that the SBD logo could be a visible deterrent to any other opportunist thieves in the future.
Our handle is stocked at a number of builders’ merchants in Scotland, so it was easy for the homeowner to purchase the product for themselves and get it installed on their existing door for greater peace of mind.
We invest significant sums in having our security products accredited to the PAS24: 2016 standard required by SBD and in having them regularly audited so that buyers know the handle they are buying is the same quality as the one that was originally tested.
We know that public awareness of the scheme means we get a good return on our investment, but we don’t often get such direct feedback.
