Since the start of the year, Mila has stepped up its focus on the premium retail door market, with the launch of a brand new TS007 3* cylinder and a new range of square stainless steel pull bars.
With first generation PVC-U doors increasingly being targeted for replacement with contemporary aluminium, timber and composites, Mila is giving customers new ways to differentiate their individual product ranges.
The new Mila 3* brass and hardened carbon steel cylinder is one of only a handful in the UK to hold the Master Locksmith’s Association Diamond Sold Secure accreditation, alongside a BSI Kitemark. To emphasise that, it even comes with the logos proudly laser etched onto either end. It features a snap secure sacrificial point which will break if it is tampered with from the outside. This ensures that the internal parts of the cylinder can’t be damaged by a potential attack and the lock itself can still be safely operated from the inside.
Part of Mila’s ProSecure range, it has all the anti-drill, anti-bump and anti-pick features you would expect, such as hardened steel anti-drill pins in the barrel, low and high driver pins to prevent cylinder bumping and anti-pick pins; but it also features a clever, high specification, high strength, carbon steel cam protection block to prevent snapping and plug extraction.
An additional security feature is that the new cylinder comes as standard with three restricted profile dimple keys and a unique warranty card number which means that only the card holder can order additional keys.
Mila is supplying its ProSecure 3* cylinder in matt nickel or matt brass finishes and with a thumb turn option for the inside if required. Crucially, it works just as well fitted into one of Mila’s security handles or into an escutcheon, giving customers an easy, risk-free route to TS007 3* compliance in any type or style of door.
In an escutcheon, the cylinder can be paired with any of Mila’s Supa™ stainless steel pull bars, which now also includes square shaped options for the first time, alongside existing round bars.
Designed for aluminium, timber, composite and PVC-U doors, these new square pull bars are manufactured in sleek, brushed stainless steel. 1200mm in length, they are available in both inline and offset shapes to give customers a choice of contemporary looks to help them set their door ranges apart. They can be back to back, concealed or through-fixed to suit any type of door, and suite perfectly with Mila’s Supa™ square escutcheons.
Like the rest of Mila’s Supa™ pull bar range, they are manufactured as standard in marine grade 316 stainless steel designed for coastal and high pollution areas. As you would expect from Mila, they have been successfully weather tested to an impressive 1000 hours in a salt spray environment, way beyond the 480 hours required for a Grade 5 rating under the corrosion test BSEN1670: 2007.
With both the pull bar and the new cylinder, the emphasis is on combining quality and performance, and Mila has ensured that they come with the kind of market leading warranties which premium retail buyers expect. For example, the new Mila ProSecure 3* cylinder comes with a 10-year mechanical operation guarantee, while the pull bars come with a 25-year guarantee on the finish.
Mila’s Managing Director Richard Gyde commented on the launch strategy: “Customers understandably want premium quality hardware products to match their premium door ranges and we are very much responding to that. In a sector of the market which is expanding rapidly, we are focusing on giving customers a wider choice with all the reassurance of Mila testing, warranties, service and support.”
